Buscopan IBS Relief Tablets contain hyoscine butylbromide 10mg, an antispasmodic medicine used to relieve abdominal cramps, stomach spasms and discomfort associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Looking for relief from the abdominal pain and discomfort associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Buscopan IBS Tablet may be just what you need! This tablet contains hyoscine butylbromide, a medicine belonging to a group of antispasmodics that work by relaxing the cramping muscles of your bowel. So if you’re suffering from IBS-related pain and discomfort, give Buscopan IBS Tablet a try – it just might make all the difference!

Buscopan IBS Relief is a clinically proven antispasmodic treatment designed to relieve abdominal cramps, pain and bloating associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Both the 20-tablet and 40-tablet packs are classified as GSL (General Sales List) medicines in the UK, meaning they are available without prescription.

Buscopan IBS Relief is a targeted antispasmodic containing 10mg Hyoscine Butylbromide. Unlike general painkillers that mask signals, Buscopan acts directly on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract to relax spasms and relieve abdominal pain, cramping, and bloating. It is clinically proven to start working within 15 minutes. It is available as a GSL medicine in 20 and 40-count packs for adults and children over 12 with a medical diagnosis of IBS

How it works

Buscopan IBS Relief contains Hyoscine Butylbromide, a quaternary ammonium derivative of the belladonna alkaloid hyoscine.

Abdominal cramps are caused by the “smooth muscles” of the gut contracting too forcefully. Hyoscine Butylbromide is an antimuscarinic agent that binds to muscarinic receptors on these muscle cells. By blocking the action of acetylcholine (the neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contraction), it interrupts the “cramp signal.” This results in the relaxation of the bowel wall, a reduction in wave-like contractions (peristalsis), and the swift easing of stabbing pains and bloating

  • Blocking muscarinic receptors in smooth muscle

  • Reducing involuntary bowel contractions

  • Relaxing intestinal muscle spasms

  • Alleviating abdominal cramping and pain

Unlike painkillers that mask discomfort, Buscopan targets the underlying muscle spasm causing IBS symptoms.

Buscopan IBS Relief is a clinically proven antispasmodic treatment designed to relieve abdominal cramps, pain and bloating associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

What Is Buscopan IBS Relief Used For?

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is often just called ‘IBS’. Although the precise cause is unknown, the muscles of the bowel appear to be very sensitive to things like:

  • Stress, eating and drinking habits
  • Food allergies or intolerances
  • Stimulants such as coffee
  • Hormonal factors
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common condition that affects the digestive system.
    • It’s usually a lifelong problem. It can be very frustrating to live with and can have a big impact on your everyday life.
    • There’s no cure, but diet changes and medicines can often help control the symptoms.
    • The exact cause is unknown – it’s been linked to things like food passing through your gut too quickly or too slowly, oversensitive nerves in your gut, stress and a family history of IBS.
