Movicol Liquid Orange flavour concentrate for oral solution is a laxative that helps to treat chronic constipation in adults, adolescents and elderly.
It can be used long-term and is not recommended for children below 12 years of age. Movicol Liquid Orange flavour makes having a comfortable bowel movement even if you have been constipated for a long time possible.
Movicol does not work as quickly as stimulant laxatives such as Senna which starts to work within 6-12 hours.
When taking Movicol as directed in the Patient Information Leaflet, most people will start to see an improvement in their constipation within 1-3 days.
For the treatment of constipation, Movicol is usually taken for 2 weeks or until stools are consistently soft and easy to pass. If you continue to be affected by constipation after using Movicol for 14 consecutive days then you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Normal and regular bowel movement is important for most people. However, what is “normal and regular” varies from person to person. Some may have a bowel movement every day, others less often. Whatever it is like for you, it is best that your bowel movement has a regular pattern.

Whatever the cause, constipation can be uncomfortable. It may make you feel bloated and heavy or generally “off colour”. Sometimes it causes headaches.
It is recommended to use changes in diet and bulk-forming medicines to control constipation before using this medicine.
