What is Infant reflux?

  • Infant reflux is a common condition that affects 50% of babies in their first three months.
  • Infant reflux mainly occurs in babies as they have an underdeveloped valve between food pipe and stomach.
  • Infant reflux typically occurs after feeds in the form of regurgitation but can also give rise to other troublesome symptoms.

How to Identify Infant Reflux?

  • Excessive crying often after a feed
  • Difficulty keeping feeds down
  • Sometimes arching the back after a feed

How does Gaviscon Infant help in Infant reflux?

  • Gaviscon Infant works by thickening the contents of the stomach.
  • This helps to stop the stomach contents escaping into the food pipe and therefore helps to control reflux symptoms.
  • Gaviscon Infant works in a physical, non-systemic way meaning it is not absorbed into the baby bloodstream to work.
