  1. Thoroughly clean hands before use
  2. Set the dial at the back of the device at the physician recommended setting
  3. After placing the mouthpiece in your mouth, breathe in deeply
  4. With the device remaining in your mouth, hold breath for 2-3 seconds
  5. Breathe out for 6-9 seconds with the mouthpiece still place
  6. Repeat as recommended, usually around 10-20 times
  7. After this process has been repeated, remove the mouthpiece
  8. Do 2-3 huff coughs with an open mouth
  9. Clean daily

Cleaning

Disassemble Instructions

  1. Detach the mouthpiece with a simple pull.
  2. Locate the three ribs close to the mouthpiece. Using thumb and forefinger press gently and lift to a 90 degree angle. Detach by then pulling up.
  3. Find the grooved surface on the base. Place thumb and forefinger on either side and gently lift up the rocker from the base unit.
  4. It is important to make sure the rocker arm does not separate from the platform base. These pieces should remain intact.

Cleaning

  1. Clean hands before disassembling the device
  2. It is recommended to clean every day by soaking in warm water with liquid dish soap
  3. Every week, disinfect the Acapella with one of the follow options:
  4. Boiling—Use sterile or distilled water heated to the boiling point (100 C or 212 F) for 5 minutes
  5. Dishwasher—Place the parts on the top rack of the dishwasher and run normally
  6. Alcohol—Parts can be soaked for 5 minutes and rinsed with sterile water. Be sure to use 70% isopropyl alcohol
  7. Hydrogen Peroxide— Soak parts for 30 minutes then rinse with sterile water
  8. Glutaraldehyde— able to be cleaned using cold sterilization
  9. Be sure all parts are completely dry before reassembling

Reassembly

  1. First attach rocker assembly and its platform base by gently pressing down.
  2. Align the hinges into the base unit and lower until you hear a click.
  3. Return cover to original placement.
  4. Press top and bottom of unit firmly while attaching the mouthpiece.

    To sell this device to someone who has not used it before is erroneous. It has a complicated mechanism that need cleaning after every use . I personally was not able to open the device which is quite tricky , just to look at the mechanics. I knew then that I wouldn’t be able use it for lung physio . Sending it back because the packaging had been opened was a problem.
    I would advise that it’s probably best to sell it to trained users . Not a nubby like myself .
